Non Resident Travel Insurance – Save 25%
Visitors to Australia can purchase our Non Resident travel insurance policies. The comprehensive plans that are available include cover for emergency medical expenses as well as many other categories of cover. Unlike some insurers, the policies we sell can cover you for your entire trip, from the time you leave your home until the time you return to your home. You will also be covered for travel and stopovers to other countries you visit, provided that the majority of your time during the policy is spent in Australia.
Non-Resident travel insurance policies are a great alternative to Overseas Visitor Health Care (OVHC) for travellers temporarily residing in Australia and travellers who require insurance for a visa approval. You are also able to extend a Non Resident policy if you decide to stay in Australia longer than you had originally planned.
You can choose between a range of Non Resident plans subject to the following:
- Your time spent in Australia during the policy period must exceed the time spent elsewhere overseas.
- There is no cover for pre-existing medical conditions other than those specifically listed as automatically covered in the Product Disclosure Statement.
- You must be 85 years of age and under at the time you purchase the policy.
Already in Australia?
You are able to purchase the Non Resident plans after your arrival in Australia. However in this instance a waiting period of 48 hours applies for medical claims from the date of issue of the certificate of insurance. Within this 48 hour waiting period you would not be covered for anything arising from, related to or associated with any injury or sickness. There is no waiting period if you purchase a policy before you commence your trip.
(If you are a non-resident currently in Australia, and wish to purchase travel insurance just for an overseas trip, then please visit our temporary resident travelling overseas page).
Every Non Resident policy purchased will require an Australian postal address and contact number for the certificate of insurance. Residents of Australia can purchase a policy on behalf of visitors to Australia.
