Already Overseas Travel Insurance

If you are reading this you may be faced with the frustrating task of finding an insurer who will insure an Australia resident who is already overseas. That can be a difficult task but we can certainly help you as Go Insurance allows their policies to be purchased by Australian residents who are already overseas. There are criteria that you need to satisfy before purchasing which are listed below.

1. You must have a permanent residential address in Australia and will be returning to resume residence in Australia at the end of your trip.
2. You must be up to 74 years of age at the time of purchase.
3. Your period of overseas travel will not exceed 18 months in total from the date you originally departed Australia.
4. You have unrestricted right of entry into Australia
5. You have access to long term medical care in Australia ( excluding reciprocal Health Agreements ).
6. You have a ticket booked for travel to Australia at the end of your trip.
7. Both your trip and period of insurance will end in Australia on the same date.
8. There is a waiting period of 48 hours from the time of the purchase of the policy.

It is important to note that if already overseas you cannot purchase a policy for travel that does not end in Australia. e.g. the policy does not cover you for a trip from the UK to the USA and back to the UK.  When you are already overseas it is important to select ‘ One Way ‘ and nominate your final destination as Australia. When requesting a quote, please select the countries and/or regions you will be visiting until your return to Australia. This helps ensure your cover is correctly applied for the entire journey. For instance, if you are in Europe ( and won’t be travelling to the USA or Canada before returning to Australia ), you should select ‘ Worldwide excluding USA, Canada and Antarctica’.
